Director Brett Leonard of *The Lawnmower Man* is known for his dazzling CGI effects and VR scenes, but the film's narrative pacing is loose, and character development remains superficial. Jeff Fahey's portrayal of Jobe lacks emotional depth after his intellectual transformation, while Pierce Brosnan's scientist role feels thin. The film has very little connection to Stephen King's original story: the source material is a horror tale about a demon-possessed lawnmower man, yet the movie completely abandons supernatural elements in favor of sci-fi horror. Although the visual effects were impressive for their time, the deviation from the core of King's work led the author himself to sue and successfully have his name removed from the film's promotion. Within the horror genre, it is regarded as an early experiment in VR-themed storytelling, but due to its chaotic script and logical flaws, it failed to become a classic.
