Director Nikolaj Arcel attempted to compress Stephen King's seven-volume "The Dark Tower" series into a 95-minute film, a task destined to be impossible. Idris Elba portrays Roland with the gunslinger's resilience and solitude, while Matthew McConaughey fully embodies the sinister charm of the Man in Black, yet their confrontation lacks the philosophical tension of the original work. The film completely rewrites the ending, changing the open and tragic conclusion of the original novel into a brighter and simplified reunion ending, omitting Roland's fate cycle at the top of the Dark Tower.
